Question by duffyheymix: Do I have to use a repair shop if I file an auto insurance claim?
Recently, my vehicle was damaged in a hail storm. I filed a claim and the adjuster estimated the damage at about $ 2600. The insurance company is making the check out to me and my lien holder. In the meantime, a business associate runs a body shop and has already repaired the vehicle. He’s not asking for any money…he did it as a favor. How do I cash the check?

Since there is a lien holder, they have an interest in making sure it was repaired, and repaired correctly. And they will have to sign off on the check. So you contact them. They will either come and inspect the car, or ask you to turn in a certificate of completion from the body shop that they repaired the vehicle and were paid the about $ 2,600 for doing so.
Or you might consider that what you are trying to do is defraud the insurance of the money, drop the claim, and return the check.
